My senior project involves creating poster and other advertising material for a non-American film adaptation of a wuxia television show on Tubi called Dragon Saber and Heavenly Sword. This is a new adaptation targeted for the American audience. This film will be produced by a studio named Graphic Cinema Films, a studio that is set to bring graphics and cinema to life. The film will be in theaters May 1, 2024, and on Blu-ray and Amazon Prime in September 7, 2024.
My senior project will be focused on martial arts, which have always fascinated me, thanks to the rich history and culture surrounding it in Asia. From movies to history books, the stories of martial arts have constantly inspired me and fueled my passion. While China is one the many birth-places for martial arts, the history of its origin was destroyed by Chairman Mao, who was the leader of the Cultural Revolution, which prevented teachings to ever be perfected.
My goal is to bring back the origin of Chinese martial arts, and introduce it to those who aren’t familiar with martial arts. My passion for this tradition of self-defense is something I take pride in as it is one of my favorite things to do, and something for me to learn to protect myself from danger. The film will show the perspective of the world of Chinese history and influencing the targeted audience of a society centuries ago that was built around martial arts. Since the adaptation of the film is going to be Rated R, the target audience for this film adaption will be mostly around the ages of 20 - 45. My purpose is showing how important Chinese history was for the culture, and how it influenced others not just in China, but also other countries as well.
